T.I.T.S. is an independent performance group based in Norway, founded in 2013, which explores the possibilities of hybrid theatrical forms by combining choreography, play, sound, visual imagery and physicality. The group’s artistic director is the Czech artist Nela H. Kornetová. T.I.T.S. has presented its work in numerous venues and at festivals across Norway, Denmark, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and South Korea.
For her artistic work, Kornetová has received, among others, the Norwegian Arbeidsstipend for Performing Artists (2019–2022), the Divadelní Noviny magazine award in the ‘Alternative Theatre’ category for the production ‘Badman’ (2020), and the most prestigious Czech theatre award, the Thalia Award, for Best Actor in 2022.
The creators describe the performance “There is something in the air” as “an extraordinary musical about breathing”. In this audiovisual dance performance, the T.I.T.S. company plays with breath and consciously controls their breathing to influence their physical, mental and even emotional state, whilst seeking ways to embody this through the body, sound and image.
Breath dances. Three bodies inhale the trembling circle of life and exhale a song full of anxiety, originating simultaneously from the past and the future. They remind us of the life-giving force that animates and transforms us, so that we may celebrate humanity. They give voice to the joy and pain of being on this planet. They are guided by intuition, instinct and inner nature.
